I remember seeing Amare as a very young player and being amazed by his combination of length, power, speed and grace. I think a B-version of Amare is the best upside comparison. He’s put on muscle and seems to hold his position under the boards a bit better. I don’t ever see him being a plus defender, but he’s definitely improving there…that between-the-legs dunk was triggered by a shot he blocked on a closeout. Can he develop a midrange game? Back to the basket game? 3-pt game? How close can he get to Dominique? Larry Nance? Connie Hawkins? Amare? He seems like that archetype, and has some real physical coordination. He’s at least as good as Aaron Gordon, which is not a bad floor. There’s a wide range of all-around games to go with these kinds of players. Some of the in-game stuff Obi does is ridiculous.
